Job Summary:
The Network Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and managing the existing network infrastructure at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS). This role ensures network reliability, security, and performance to support the Center’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor network traffic, analyze bandwidth usage, and optimize network resources for reliability and performance.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and secure network protocols.
  • Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify and mitigate threats.
  • Install, configure, and manage network devices and components.
  • Maintain and update configurations and firmware for all network equipment.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues and respond promptly to network outages.
  • Manage network user accounts, permissions, and access controls, ensuring security and compliance.
  • Implement multi-factor authentication (MFA) and other access control measures.
  • Maintain detailed network documentation, including configurations, topologies, and security policies.
  • Provide training and support to IT staff and end-users on network best practices.
  • Stay current with evolving network technologies and security practices to improve infrastructure.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CompTIA Network+
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in network administration, troubleshooting, and security implementation.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and VPNs.
    • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper, or similar network equipment.
    • Familiarity with firewall management and network security best practices.
    • Proficiency in network monitoring tools and performance optimization.
    • Ability to document and maintain network configurations effectively.
Work Environment & Conditions:
  • Work will be performed on-site at DKI APCSS in Honolulu, HI.
  • Standard work hours: Monday – Friday, 0800-1600 HST, except on federal holidays.
  • Must comply with DoD security regulations and complete required security training.
